The Shawnee Lodge is proud to introduce the new National Order of the Arrow Induction, a redesigned experience built to deepen meaning, strengthen connection, and renew the spirit of cheerful service. This is more than an update — it’s a return to the heart of the OA, crafted to help candidates and members alike rediscover why our brotherhood matters.
Why a New Induction?
The National OA has spent years re‑examining the Induction to ensure it reflects:
- Stronger connection to purpose — clearer storytelling, deeper symbolism, and a more intentional journey.
- Better support for candidates — improved guidance, reflection, and mentorship.
- A unified national standard — ensuring every lodge delivers the same high‑quality, meaningful experience.
- A more welcoming path for members to serve — including the new Luminary role (replacing Elangomats), designed to support candidates throughout their weekend.
Shawnee Lodge is now entering the national certification process, and your attendance at these preview weekends directly helps us complete that requirement. Once certified, we will begin offering the new induction at Fall Reunion 2027.

All Shawnee Lodge members are invited — and ceremonialists, advisers, and members interested in serving as Luminaries are especially encouraged to attend. These weekends are your chance to see the new experience up close, learn the updated roles, and help the lodge prepare for full rollout.
Partial conflicts? If you can’t attend the full weekend, please choose a session where you can be present all day Friday and all day Saturday. Sunday participation is optional.

- The updated Candidate Journey
- The new Luminary role and how it supports candidates

Whether you’re a seasoned ceremonialist or simply curious, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of how the new induction strengthens the OA experience.
Packing List (Quick Overview)
Plan for a typical OA induction weekend. Recommended items include:
- Class A uniform
- Work clothes and gloves
- Water bottle
- Sleeping gear – both night under stars(Friday) and Tent(if staying Saturday Night)
- Rain gear and weather‑appropriate layers
- Notebook and pen for reflection
- Personal essentials (medications, toiletries, etc.)

Your participation matters. Each preview weekend helps the lodge:
- Train ceremonialists and advisers in the new format
- Prepare Luminaries for their new responsibilities
- Demonstrate readiness to deliver the induction consistently
- Complete required national evaluation checkpoints
