New Horizons, Grand Towers, and Ozark Trailblazers
Location – Cub World
Contact – Camp Ranger Neil Gunn and Grizzly Guides
Lunch – Cub World Activity Building
Project - Assist in removing, cutting, and mulching trees from around Fort Hussmann, pull weeds and spread sand in Miners Area, stain structures in Cub World, remove leaves from pirate ship, spread mulch in the Maze, rake leaves around the Activity Building, spread pea gravel at Council Ring, set landscaping blocks in Miners Area, cut and chip fallen trees in Cub World, and other jobs assigned by Ranger or Grizzly Guide
Equipment - bow saws, spades, shovels, wheel barrels, garden rakes, wood chipper, chain saw*
Boone Trails and River Trails
Location – Nagel Explorer Base
Contact – Camp Ranger Mark Conley
Lunch – Nagel parking lot
Project - Plant, mulch, and water pine trees, clear shooting range, clear hardwoods from pine plantation, spread mulch around hitching racks, clean out the barn, clear and burn down trees from small pasture, and assist in projects assigned by Camp Ranger
Equipment - spades, shovels, wheel barrels, side garden rakes, bow saws, weed eaters*, chain saw*
North Star and Thunderbird
Location – Map and Compass Course
Contact – Bill Croker
Lunch – Take lunch
Project - Replace map and compass markers as needed, clear limbs around markers
Equipment - bow saws, t-posts, t-post driver
Gravois Trail
Location – Color Trail
Contact – Paul Altnether
Lunch – Take lunch
Project - Trimming trees or branches, minor trail work, placing trail markers
Equipment - bow saws, garden rakes, shovels, hammer, nails, trail markers
Pathfinder and Osage
Location – Climbing Tower and Beaumont Entrance
Contact – Ron Wood
Lunch – Along Creek Bank
Project - Mulching fallen trees at entrance and along tree line moving from Climbing Tower towards Dining and Education Facility.
Equipment - bow saws, chain saw*
Note: Individuals operating weed eaters must be at least 18 years of age and use eye and ear protection.
Individuals operating chain saws must be at least 21 years of age, use the buddy system, and wear chaps and head, eye, and ear protection.
Individuals operating the wood chipper must be 21 years of age, use protective gear, use buddy system, and briefed by the Camp Ranger.
